I picked this little jobber up just because it was extremely cheap, and I didn't want to put it down! I've been trying to up my bass technique, with the Victor Wooten style double thumb. This bass is perfect for my hand for trying to get this down. Overall, the bass is a wonderful deal. I figured I couldn't go wrong at that price, and now I'm happier than a clam!

King Loudness. The Yamaha RBX is one of the lower tier basses in their line, but it's still a force to be reckoned with if you're looking for a cheap yet easy to play and great sounding instrument. They're built in Taiwan and feature an agathis body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard and 24 frets, standard tuners and bridge, and a pair of pickups, one P Bass style in the front and a Jazz pickup in the back.

This offers versatility that you won't find in the average Squier or other cheaper basses. It's available in a variety of colours, but the mist purple is great looking and stands out from the pack. The inst…. The instrument is quite light and the shape is extremely player friendly. The fact that it has 24 frets is a huge plus as well. I particularly like the feel of the neck and how strong the upper fret access is getting to the 24th fret is not a problem at all.

I'm a guitar player, so I like basses that are easy to play, and this one is probably one of the best cheap basses I've tried in that aspect. Getting a good sound is very easy. It offers both the thicker more strident P bass type tone as well as the punchier and clearer J bass tone, so you can have either one of those or even blend them for some fun. The stock pickups aren't to the quality of DiMarzio, Bartolini or Fender, but they do a good job here.

The P bass pickup is great for thicker, more bass heavy tones that require a very big and full sound, whereas the J bass pickup is clear, bright and articulate, making it ideal for lead lines or a more trebly tone. This makes the bass ideal for a variety of styles, and combine that with the easy playbility and great design, and you've got just an excellent bass on your hands. It will blow away a Squier or other cheapo bass, so give one a whirl!

Body: Agathis Neck: Maple Bolt-on Fingerboard: Rosewood, mm radius Frets: 24 Scale: mm Pickups: 2 single coil Controls: 1 volume, 1 tone, pickup balance Bridge: Chrome vintage style with four individual saddles This is good, features are the official site and I have no idea where it was built, I apologize.

The handle slides well and access to acute is just perfect and this just gives it a special character. It is perfectly balanced. The only downside: the strings of origin. On the contrary, Change and yo…. On the contrary, Change and you will sound just great. Is simply off-road. The quality of the microphones is felt as the difference between two means setting: a sound very fat and heavy for the big rock, a sound very clear to the slap and the ultra clear for walking.

The harmonics come out very well all the way provided the well have settled anyway I tested it on a very old amp Vox seems to me there, but I could be wrong but I played on an amp 'homemade'. I also use a pedal Zoom II and even large distortion the sound is perfect. I had a scare in the long run with its unbearable string backgrounds but this problem is quickly solved by changing the game I was hooked at this low DNAS store with its very sound a Rock Once set on the grave. Also his physique is simply beautiful and has a character.

If I had to choose again I would not hesitate, but I would think to change my strings sooner rather than torture me by telling me that the pickups are zero what I could be stupid. You can play almost everything from blues to metal even if it lacks infr…. I tried some beef in practice before you buy.

And groove. Accs easy to treble. Rgler easy. It's a good bass for beginners. See more advice, I think everything has been said again and again! Frankly, for its price, it is excellent! The handle is really nice, it is lighter than some I've tried and at the form it does not bother me at all, sitting or standing. Is a good sound, but, again, and I generally felt the strings of origin are changing quite rapidly.

Personal I have not even changed after two months and a half without playing every day, because the lowest string bordered, it gave a dirty sound. At first I thought the set to, but expert opinion, there was no adjustment to make. By welsholdman , November 27, in Bass Guitars. Yesterday I visited a local music shop to try a few bass guitars with a view to deciding on which to buy as my first bass. Of the various cheap basses I tried the Yamaha RBX seemed to me to be the best made and it played quite nicely.

Basically I know just about nothing about bass guitars and so wonder if I am correct in thinking that the Yamaha would be a good first bass?

Many thanks for any advice. I've never played a bad Yamaha, and the RBX is a great example of a starter bass - my friend's had one for a while - nice and simple but well put together. I'd go for it. I owned a Yamaha RBX for two years and they are fantastic basses. Yamaha do make absoloutly fantastic basses, and TRBboy is right in saying that if you aim a bit higher and get an RBX, or even , you'd be completely set!

Found it in my local keyboard shop Price was within parents present buying range, so I played it for a bit and off it went to Santa. Took me from Maiden to Wooten, all through college, then I retired it after 4 years of heavy use I agree with the comment on the RBX I got one so I could have tribute to my 1st bass and modded it, sold it as I barely play 4-string unfortunately. They are quite a bit better; Alder instead of Agathis and a pan pot instead of dual volume.

When it comes to Yamaha you just can't loose. They may not have Ibanez like specs, but to hell with that superficial nonsense Have hands, will play! Welcome to the world of bass. With a Yamaha, the journey will be that much better. I only ever play Yamaha basses now as they are perfect for what I want and need. You will never go wrong with a Yamaha, enjoy it and good luck on your bass adventure!

Don't trust a word that Ben aka 4StringsFortress says, he knows nothing. Just kidding of course cos I now have his BB, and its a corker. A wise choice. RBX is a fantastic beginner bass. I wasted my money on a Squier Affinity Bass I regret it as much as I did when the knobs started falling off. Enjoy your fantastic bass, and give a BB series bass a shot if you ever want an upgrade!

They're amazing! My first bass was a RBF fretless - still have it!
