I believe 1st ranges between 3. Rev 3. Thanks for the data! Sounds like there are some slight differences based on application but they're all in the same ballpark. Interesting swap! He was surprised that I found my manual trans from a D.
Lots to learn in the Benz world! Here you go Dan Manual Transmission information Charlie. Funny how that works. BB code is On. Smilies are On. I did the pennzoil syncromesh fill on the first change. It did ok, but I wasn't satisfied with the 1st to 2nd gear syncro ratchet once in a while. I decided to change it again after a hundred or so miles of driving.
It didn't seem to make much change, that I noticed. I was ready to pull the transmission and check it out. Then I read a response that Vtech responded to another member, that was grinding going into 3rd gear, I believe. He suggested using full synthetic in the transmission. Well, I thought before I pull the transmission, I would give the full synthetic a shot. I changed it out yesterday, and wow! I could feel that there were things happening nearly right away.
I drove it this morning, and it was good all the time no ratcheting. The flow characteristics and the cleaning seems to have loosened up that syncronizer. It only had a half quart of oil in the transmission initially when I changed it. It would get hard to move the shifter sideways after warming it up in the hotter weather.
I wasn't finding any dog teeth or anything in the flushes. BB code is On. Smilies are On. Trackbacks are On. Pingbacks are On.

I spend a lot of time on the highway I drive about 90 miles a day , but I also frequently sit in traffic. As is, I have 3. I'm going to figure out my final drive ratio for what I have now in second and shoot for a little more torque than that.
Right now I rarely go above 60 except to pass, just because the engine revs too high and gas mileage goes to the crapper. If I keep it 55 and the traffic is light in the afternoons I can get high 20's in the MPG department, I'd like to maintain this but be able to go 65 for long periods of time without excessive engine noise, especially since I have to drive back to CA in a month.
Before someone asks without looking at my sig, I have a w with a turbo engine and a stock 1-piece d manual transmission. Also, is there anyone with experience driving turbo with a 4-speed? What rear end gears do you have? I was thinking if I could find 2. My current rear tires are 70r14 I'm pretty sure and the old ones are about 2" shorter. Mobile App. Legal Bits Terms of Use.
